Muhammad Drawings Scandal

A Danish newspaper editor published an editorial about how she found that people treated Islamic topics as an exception to free speech, in that it is impossible to find anyone that will draw a representation of Muhammad unanonymously, or even reading from the Quran was done nervously. With the editorial, she had her newspapers artists each draw their own idealization of a picture of Muhammad.

What has followed could best be described as a "shit storm"

I think the debate is pretty complex. Muhammad was a prophet and not a diety, so I do not personally understand the sacreligious element associated with portraying him. Jesus is portrayed millions of ways, but something about Muhammad must make him untouchable. This isn't all Islam (that is upset), but I still think it's an alarming difference between the tolerance of our faiths.
